1. Ball Float
Floats on top of the water level in the cistern. When the water is released from the cistern the float lowers and releases the shut off valve on the inlet pipe. This allows more water into the cistern until the float rises and shuts off the water flow.
If the cistern isn't filling with water after a flush, check the Ball Float is moving up and down freely. It may be caught, if it is, the the Ball Float shaft can be carefully bent to allow it move freely. Care should be taken to ensure that where the shaft connects to the Inlet Valve isn't damaged.
If the cistern is constantly filling, it could mean the float isn't lifting high enough. Gently lift the Ball Valve to see if the water flow is affected, if the water flow stops then you need to adjust the height of the float, if the shaft is metal, it can be simply carefully bent down to the required height. Plastic shafts should have a screw adjuster to increase or decrease the float height. Screwing the adjuster towards the Inlet Valve will push the Ball Float further down and stop the water flow.If lifting the Ball Float up doesn't stop the flow of water, then you may need a replacement Inlet Valve.
