Black spots are being left on my cutlery

Please make sure you follow these instructions fully. If you have any problems with carrying out this maintenance, please contact us.

Black marks on cutlery can be left by reactions between different metals during the wash cycle. Check the user manual for any specific recommendations on the use of your dishwasher, but see some tips in the steps below.

1.

  • Separate stainless steel and silver cutlery. If you have a mixture of stainless steel and silver cutlery try to make sure that you keep them apart from each other in the dishwasher. Put silver cutlery on one side of the basket and stainless steel on the other. If they touch during the washing cycle, then the detergent may have the effect of making a black mark at the place where they came in contact.
  • Rinse cutlery before loading. Some foods contain acids which can stain your cutlery, in particular fruit, mayonnaise and sea food. Rinse the cutlery first to remove harmful acids before being washed in your dishwasher.
  • Remove cutlery as soon as the cycle has finished. Some staining and marks found on your cutlery after washing may be because of condensation build up during the drying part of your dishwasherʼs cycle. Try and take the cutlery out as soon as you notice the washing has finished.
