Cleaning the drainage hose

Always make sure that you switch off the electric and water supplies to your washing machine before you start any maintenance.
If your washing machine seems not to be draining properly, there may be a blockage in the drainage hose. You can check for any blockages using the guide below.
If your washing machine empties into the waste system under the sink, please ensure that the connection to the sink plumbing is clear from any blockages, such as a build-up of detergent.
If your appliance empties into a stand-pipe, ensure the drain hose is not pushed in by more than 4 inches.
The steps below will give you some general guidance, but always check your user manual for any specific recommendations for your appliance.

Unplug your washing machine, make sure you keep the plug out of any spilled water.
2. Locate the drainage hose.

Check the drainage hose for kinks and bends as these can be the cause of blockages or slow drainage. Also make sure that the hose is not crushed or trapped under or behind the appliance.

Remove the drainage hose from the waste pipe.
5.
Use a thin implement to clean and clear any blockages in the drainage hose (or waste pipework).
6.
Replace the drainage hose and run the washing machine to check it is clear.
