AEG Fridges and Freezers

There is ice build-up in my freezer

Please make sure you follow these instructions fully. If you have any problems with carrying out this maintenance, please contact us.

If you have noticed a large build up of ice inside the freezer of your appliance, refer to the applianceʼs user manual to check that your freezer temperature settings are correct. You may also need to defrost the appliance to remove the excess ice. See the “Defrosting the appliance” topic for more information.

Always check the user manual for any specific recommendations regarding your appliance.

1. Ice can build up when the door is left open for longer than necessary, causing humidity levels to change as the cooled air falls out allowing warmer air in. This can then result in frost and ice build up. Ensure that food is fully covered in a frost free freezer.

2. The doors may not be closing fully. Pull the appliance out from the wall and have someone lean it back far enough for you to reach the two front pedestal feet (take care, the appliance may be heavy). Screw both feet out a few turns. This will ensure the doors close on their own and that collected water is properly draining from the freezer and refrigerator. For further information, see the “Adjusting the feet” topic.

3. Check that the door seals are clean and not damaged. For further information, see the “Cleaning the door seals” topic.

If you have misplaced or lost your user manual, you can download a replacement manual (please have your model number to hand).
