My oven gets smelly

Please make sure you follow these instructions fully. If you have any problems with carrying out this maintenance, please contact us.

Check for specific details on your appliance in the user manual, but the steps below will give you general guidance.

If you have a new oven and have noticed a strong smell the first time you use it, please refer to the “My new oven smells” topic for troubleshooting and how to get rid of smells from your appliance. If your oven becomes smelly after some use, check through the tips below.

Warning: Always switch off the appliance at the mains switch before beginning any cleaning and always make sure that your cooker has completely cooled down before starting any maintenance or cleaning.

1. Check and clear the oven of any loose food or debris.

2. Clean the inside of the oven using the correct process and cleaning substances.

For information on cleaning the inside of your oven see the “Cleaning the oven compartment” topic.

Several specialist products are available through the AEG website (click here to view and purchase online) which can be used to keep your oven or cooker clean and will give you the best results.

If the above actions haven’t rectified your issue or you don’t feel confident to undertake them please go to our on-line repair booking page to arrange an engineer visit — https://www.domesticandgeneral.com/repairs.

If you have misplaced or lost your user manual, you can download a replacement manual (please have your model number to hand).
