A burning smell comes from my dryer
- Please make sure you follow these instructions fully. If you have any problems with carrying out this maintenance, please contact us.
A build up of lint and fluff in your washer dryer or incorrect loading can lead to a burning smell. See the “Loading to your machines drying capacity” topics for further information.
Always check the user manual for details of this for your specific dryer, but this guide will give you some general advice.
You can also see our ‘How to…’ videos, which include some general advice on adjusting the feet of an appliance (double-click the video to view it ‘full screen’). - 1. Make sure that your washer dryer has not been overloaded. This may cause garments to get trapped between the door seal and the drum which creates friction when the machine starts to work. This can create a burning rubber smell and even smoke.
- 2. Check if you have a lint or fluff filter (found in the door recess) and remove any fluff build up.
- 3. Re-fit everything and try the appliance again, the smell may take a few minutes to clear.
- If the above actions haven’t rectified your issue or you don’t feel confident to undertake them please go to our on-line repair booking page to arrange an engineer visit — https://www.domesticandgeneral.com/repairs.
If you have misplaced or lost your user manual, you can download a replacement manual (please have your model number to hand).
