    Most modern appliances now show their energy rating information, often in the user manual and also on a sticker on the appliance itself. The standard ratings range from A+++ through to D.

    The costs of operating your tumble dryer can be an important consideration, so the energy-use information can be very useful and will normally give you a guide to annual energy consumption based upon estimated usage.
  • 1. Seeing the amount of energy your tumble dryer will use can inform you how efficient it will be in normal use. The highest A+++ rated appliances use the least amount of energy and so are the best at being most efficient, as well as being kinder to the environment and costing you less to use.
  • 2. Different types of appliance will be different in the way they work, so different ways of calculating the ratings have been devised. For example, the energy use for a tumble dryer across a typical year is based on 160 drying cycles. Checking the amount of electricity used (measured in Kilowatt Hours -‘kWh’- which are the ‘units’ the electricity-supply companies use for their billing) for an average year can allow you to work out an indication of your tumble dryerʼs running costs.
