It is important to make sure that your tumble dryer is installed properly and connected to the electrical supply safely.

Always check the user manual for details of this for your specific dryer, but the points below will give you some general guidance.

Also see the “Connecting the power supply” and other “Installation…” topics for further information.
  • 1. Always ensure that your hands are dry before touching any mains electrical fittings or a connected appliance.
  • 2. The socket must be properly grounded (earthed) and be able to sustain the dryer’s maximum power, which is indicated on the rating plate fixed to the dryer.

The mains electric voltage must be within the values indicated on the rating label fixed to the dryer.

The socket must be compatible with the dryer’s plug. Should this not be the case, replace the plug or the socket (always have this type of work carried out by a competent person or qualified electrician).
  • 3. Do not use extension cords (they can be a safety hazard with this type of appliance).
  • 4. Once installed, the dryer’s electrical wire and plug must be within reach and must not be bent or squashed. The dryer must not be installed outdoors, even if the space is sheltered. It can be very dangerous if the tumble dryer is exposed to rain or storms.
  • 5. WARNING: The plug must not be used without a fuse cover. If a replacement fuse holder/cover is required, it must be of the same colour coding or wording as shown on the base of the plug.
  • If you have misplaced or lost your user manual, you can access a link to download a replacement manual from the bottom of the home page (please have your model number to hand).
