How to get the best cleaning results
- Please make sure you follow these instructions fully. If you have any problems with carrying out this maintenance, please contact us.
Correct loading of your dishwasher will help to give you the best cleaning results. Check the user manual for any recommendations on your specific dishwasher but the steps below will give you some general guidance.
Also see the “Correct loading of the dishwasher” topic. - 1. General loading.
- If you intend to leave dishes in the machine and do a wash at the end of the day, you should pre-rinse the dishes. But if you are going to run a wash right away, just scrape off any food before you put the plates in the machine.
- Ensure anything plastic is secure. If any pieces are able to move around in the machine due to the pressure of the water they may fall onto the heating element and melt.
- Put items in the machine in such a way that water can get to all surfaces, never stack items.
Loading the bottom rack.- Face plates and bowls with the dirty surfaces into the water spray with pots, pans and large dishes angled down for the best cleaning results.
- Utensils with long, thin handles should be positioned carefully to prevent them slipping through the rack and preventing the spray arm from spinning freely.
- Never place large pans and serving plates in the front of the machine as they will prevent the detergent from reaching the rest of the machine. Better to place them at the back or around the sides.
- Ensure forks and spoons donʼt rest together, alternate handles up and down so that all surfaces get washed.
- Never put stainless steel and silver or silver-plated flatware together, a reaction may occur if the two types of metal touch in the wash, and the surface of the silver could be damaged.
Put cups in the top rack.- Glasses and mugs should be placed between the upright prongs of the rack as putting them on top may leave a water spot from the tip of the prong.
- Cups should be angled as much the rack will allow to prevent water from pooling in the base of the upside-down cups. If you still get water in the cup undersides then unload the bottom rack first to avoid drips falling onto your dry items.
- Arrange wine glasses carefully. To help prevent wine glass breakage, arrange them carefully to prevent them bumping against each other or the top of the dishwasher.
Donʼt keep too much detergent on hand.- Store all dishwasher detergents in a cool, dry place and use them up within two months to ensure their cleaning power is at its best.
- NOTE: always keep detergents and similar products out of the reach of children.
Drying
- Plastic dishes and non-stick frying pans usually retain more water drops so their drying will not be the same as ceramic, glass or stainless-steel items.
