Installation safety requirements
- Please make sure you follow these instructions fully. If you have any problems with carrying out this maintenance, please contact us.
When you are moving your dishwasher, always keep it upright. If it does become absolutely necessary, the appliance may be tilted onto its back.
It is important to make sure that your dishwasher is installed properly and connected to the electrical supply safely.
Always check the instructions in the user manual for details of this for your specific dishwasher, but the steps below will give you some general guidance. - 1. Remove all the packaging from around and inside your dishwasher and check that it has not been damaged during transportation or delivery. If you do find any damage, do not try to install the dishwasher, but contact the supplier to get any problems resolved.
- 2. Make sure that your dishwasher is on a level and sturdy floor. If your floor is uneven, the front feet can be adjusted until the dishwasher is level (some appliances may also have an adjustable rear foot which can be adjusted using a bolt or screw in the front lower panel; check your user manual for details).
Getting the level correct will mean that your dishwasher will be more stable and much less likely to move, vibrate or create excess noise while it is operating. Also see the “Adjusting the feet” topic for further information. - 3. Always ensure that your hands are dry before touching any mains electrical fittings or a connected appliance.
- 4. The socket must be properly grounded (earthed) and be able to sustain the dishwasher’s maximum power, which is indicated on the rating plate generally fixed on the inside of the door.
The mains electric voltage must be within the values indicated on the rating plate generally fixed on the inside of the door.
The socket must be compatible with your dishwasher’s plug. Should this not be the case, replace the plug or the socket (always have this type of work carried out by a competent person or qualified electrician). - 5. Do not use extension cords (they can be a safety hazard with this type of appliance).
- 6. Once installed, the dishwasher’s electrical wire and plug must be within reach and must not be bent or squashed. The dishwasher must not be installed outdoors, even if the space is sheltered. It can be very dangerous if the appliance is exposed to rain or storms.
- 7. WARNING: The plug must not be used without a fuse cover. If a replacement fuse holder/cover is required, it must be of the same colour coding or wording as shown on the base of the plug.
- 8. Also see the “Connecting the power supply” and other “Installation…” topics for further information.
